COVID updates: Public Health Agency of Canada

The Public Health Agency of Canada considers COVID-19 to be a serious threat to public health with the situation and restrictions evolving daily. The risk varies between and within communities so some of you may notice that the restrictions are more or less strict depending on the community you are residing in. It’s important that you stay up to date on the restrictions and regulations in your area. We recommend that you follow the updates from PHAC and the provincial regulations that are applicable to the city and province that you live in.

COVID Vaccine information

Canada has free COVID vaccine access for all adults over the age of 18. The recommended number of vaccines by age group is outlined by the Public Health Agency of Canada - we suggest you research your options by visiting the Public Health of Canada website to learn when and how to get booster shots. You can also ask your Local Committee for information about access to vaccines as there may be clinics set up on your campus.

If you have questions about the vaccine and your specific health or personal situation, we encourage you to talk to a doctor or nurse.

COVID Reminder: Remaining vigilant for the next wave

As COVID-19 activity continues in Canada we must continue our collective effort to interrupt the spread of the virus, including limiting the spread of more transmissible variants. Students are urged to remain vigilant and to continue following local public health advice, as well as consistently maintaining individual practices that keep us and our families safer: stay home/self-isolate if you have any symptoms, think about the risks and reduce non-essential activities and outings to a minimum, avoid all non-essential travel, and maintain individual protective practices of physical distancing, hand, cough and surface hygiene and wearing a well-fitted and properly worn face mask as appropriate (including in shared spaces with people from outside your immediate household indoors and also outdoors where physical distancing is difficult to maintain).
